I’ve been a buyer/seller on various musical gear sites for years and have conducted dozens of transactions including trades.
I was very excited to hear about Resyn as their business model was something I’ve tried myself to pull off but didn’t have the resources.
I decided to list my first instrument on Resyn a few days ago. I listed a rare Fender Custom shop very limited run model and today I was surprised to have 2 offers.
I logged in and had 2 notifications of offers. The 1st offer listed $0 offered, and declined. I did select the option to automatically decline offers beneath a minimum amount and maybe that’s how the system handles those rejections, but the 2nd offer was for the full amount I was asking.
Here’s where I’m really confused. My only option I can pick on this offer are negotiate or decline. With the offer the same as my asking price, what is there to negotiate and why would I decline the offer? It then says the buyer wants to negotiate whatever price I come do with.
Am I missing something here? Why don’t I have a option to accept the offer?
Thank you so much for reaching out! Sorry to hear you had those issues with your first listing. The offers you received were actually a phishing attempt sent through a fake link, not a real offer from within Resyn. We’re already on top of this and tightening security so this doesn’t happen again.
Your actual listing is totally safe, but no real buyers made offers yet. That’s why you didn’t see an “Accept” button as nothing legitimate came through the Resyn system.
You did everything right, and I’m really sorry your first experience included something misleading. We’re handling it, and we’ll make sure your selling experience here is smooth going forward.
If you ever have questions or want help with your listing, I’m here anytime.
As a Cybersecurity Engineer, I’m fascinated (but not surprised) that threat actors have figured out a way to insert fictitious offers into an item for sale I’m assuming without ever even creating an account.
Hopefully your security team can get this resolved asap, as consumer confidence during this time of the year is at an all time low and who needs to add anything to that?
@markorz@Toejam thanks for the heads up! Yes, we are working to eliminate these phishing attempts. Very sorry that you guys both had this experience. Could you provide the username/profile of the accounts so that we can 100% make they’ve been scrubbed?
We’ve temporarily turned off chat/messaging while we finalize an improved, approved version of the feature. It’ll be back shortly with added protections in place.
Hi and happy holidays. Where do we stand with the blocking of the phishing offers being inserted into our listings? I am reluctant to list any additional items as a result of my initial experience and subsequent issues others have experienced. I have a large community of musician friends who all were waiting for me to tell them how great my initial sale on Resyn went and I really don’t have anything positive to tell them other than support was responsive and said they’d fix the issue. We’re all still patiently waiting to hear back things are fixed and safe for us to conduct transactions.
